Classical Ballet training provides the mandatory essentials of body awareness, equilibrium, core strength and posture required for all styles of dancing, and is the foundation of any strong dance education program.  Ballet is recognized as the foundation of most theatrical dance forms. Class material has been carefully developed to ensure a steady, healthy technical and artistic progression from one level to the next. Students have an opportunity to be examined in their ballet levels as they progress, which can lead to professional accreditations.  The syllabus is a joy to dance and encourages creativity for students at every stage of their development. Fourteen levels of curriculum will guide the student from Grade Pre-Primary through to the demands of the pre-professional world.

Jazz

Jazz dancing is an energetic and fun dance form- consisting of syncopated rhythms, intricate movements, improvisation, big leaps, and complex turns. Jazz showcases a dancer’s individual style and originality allowing every dancer the ability to interpret and execute the steps in their own unique way. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace and balance. In recent years, Jazz has become one of the most popular dance styles mainly due to its popularity in movies, and on television shoes, such as So You Think You Can Dance.  Students have an opportunity to be examined in their jazz levels as they progress, which can lead to professional accreditations.  Fourteen levels of curriculum will guide the student from Grade Pre-Primary through to the demands of the pre-professional world.

Tap

Tap dancing develops a great sense of rhythm and timing as the instructor helps the student focus on music awareness while incorporating tap steps and combinations. Tap dancing is a fun style of dance that is beneficial in many ways such as increasing cardiovascular conditioning, strength, flexibility and coordination. Cognitive abilities are also enhanced through this dance style, as tap dancers must develop both mental and muscle memory to become proficient at tapping out rhythms in correct timing.

Acro

Ages 5+

Acro is a combination of dance and gymnastics. In Acro class, dancers will learn how to properly develop acrobatic and gymnastic skills with an emphasis on strength and flexibility. With unique choreography, students will learn to seamlessly blend dance and acrobatics as seen in such places as Cirque du Soleil.  Students have an opportunity to be examined in their acro levels as they progress, which can lead to professional accreditations.  Fourteen levels of curriculum will guide the student from Grade Pre-Primary through to the demands of the pre-professional world.

Modern

Ages 7+

Modern is an expressive form of dance in which we explore the movement of the body and the expression of emotion through dance and the elements around us. By not teaching one specific modern technique, we aim to educate our students on multiple professional techniques, the history of modern, and also encourage them to express their own creativity and grow their movement vocabulary through the use of improvisation.
Contemporary dance borrows from ballet, jazz, social dances, and many modern dance techniques of the 20th century.
